News from the Hughes: Snow Days

The most recent winter storm came at a convenient time because we have been sick! Ethan had a sinus infection and now I have Strep throat.

We didn't get as much snow as we did on Christmas Day, and the ice has been more dangerous this time round so schools have been closed all week!

Hannah really wanted to pass in the blow the early day, so we bundled up both kids and let them walk round the floor a small bit.

It's the lonesome place about the home that's flat where I didn't get to care about them slipping and falling. Plus, we don't actually have snow-appropriate place for Hannah, so I wanted to make sure she didn't take her shoes up with snow.

They did so much better walking in it this year compared to live year!

How precious is this guy in his winter gear?DSC_0472

He cherished to make a snowball for Dexter, but it made his hands cold.DSC_0476

He just melts my heart.when he's not having a meltdown.DSC_0477

After freezing our men from affecting the snow we grabbed our mittens and came back out (we also grabbed Hannah's hat). I tried to get them in a project together and they both put their hands behind their backs as if they were trying to pose. They pass me up.DSC_0480

So, maybe you're wondering, what's a very productive way to drop your time when you're stuck in the theater during snow days? For me, there was a job that I have been putting off for a long while. Potty. Training. Granted, this job only involved Ethan since Hannah's been potty-trained since last March, but it's one I've been putting off. I just haven't had the patience to work with Ethan, who I was convinced was not interested.

But I told myself back in the light that one weekend in the winter, when we were stuck in the family because of cold weather, we would do it. I think my end is for him to be potty-trained before he turns three. So this past weekend we did it! He has some new Thomas the Train underwear that Grandma Kim bought him last time she visited, and that really helped do the trick. I honestly think the most effectual way for kids to discover is to go cold turkey - straight to underwear - and let them see it out. He did so good and I suppose he eventually gets it! Of course he'll have some accidents here and there, and the true test will do when we're out and about (Hannah refused to use "big" potties - especially in public - for a long time), but I guess we've reached another milestone! And I give to admit, potty-training does take its part of laughs. I won't repeat all of the conversations we've had to aid them understand these bodily functions, but it's definitely been hilarious and a nice dose of much-needed comedy around here.

I too receive some pictures of the kids entertaining themselves on another cold morning when we didn't have anywhere to go.

Ethan randomly decided he cherished to extract all the cushions off the couch.

We are definitely tired of the cold weather around here and cook for Spring! We get a lot going on that I will share here soon. There's never a dull moment!
