Ever since I caught a glance of this adorable Santa Party Mix(I LOVE cookies and cups!), I wanted to gain my own. I even tracked down the caramel Bugles(actually my daughter found them for me). Though I have never purchased a bag of Bugles in my life, I required to take these Santa hats! Trouble is, I am a procrastinator(which I'm certain you live by now), and my "to bake/make" list is way too long!
I am a bit overwhelmed by all the cunning and ingenious things I have found in the blogging world, and I love cute food: So, I never got round to the little Santa hats: As consolation, I told myself that I would do them next year, but so I had an idea. I had been seeing adorable snowman cupcakes, here at Kristan's always curious and fabulous blog, and here at Cheryl's fantastic blog (a favorite!), when it struck me that I could make snowman hats instead of Santa hats: Christmas is over, but winter is yet here!
Tiny snowman hats! I used everything that I already had on hand to do this mix. I even used up most of my leftover Christmas candy. Perfect! It was so fun to see these teeny hats come together. I was leaving to give them plain, but distinct to add a little flourish with the holly berries(at least that's what they are alleged to be). If you are so inclined, you can get just the hats, put them in a cellophane bag tied with a cute ribbon and you're right to go. What a precious little winter treat or party favor for this sentence of year.
They may not stall out as often as the red Santa hats, but they are pretty cute. This photo doesn't really have them too well.
Tucked into the snack mix in the jar, the snowman hats add a small extra specialness to the already delicious mix: It actually borders on addictive!Snowman hats 36 mini marshmallows 18 mini oreos (separated so that each cookie makes two hats) About 8 ounces of chocolate Almond Bark Melt the chocolate as directed. For each hat: Dip a cookie into the coffee and try to let the excess drip off. Set on waxed paper flat side down. Dip a marshmallow in the coffee and let the excess drip off. Place marshmallow on top, center of the cookie. Let dry. Optional: If desired, use frosting (I used royal icing) to make holly berries. Makes 3 dozen mini snowman hats.Snowman Snack Mix 3 cups of Cheerios 3 cups of pretzels, broken (I just had large ones) 4 cups popped popcorn (used Orville Redenbacher's Natural, microwave) 1 cup mini marshmallows 1/4 cup white chocolate chips 1/2 cup Hershey's candy cane kisses, chopped 1 bag (7.06 oz. Ghiradelli chocolate squares peppermint bark, chopped 12 ounces vanilla Almond bark Except for the vanilla almond bark, mix everything together in a big bowl. Spread the mix out on a large baking sheet. Melt the vanilla almond bark according to package directions. Drizzle it concluded the mix in the baking pan and integrate well. Let dry. Scatter the snowman hats over the mix. Transfer to large serving bowl. ENJOY!This position is joined to the Tasty Tuesdays bloghop! Have a feeling and union in!
