"I love it here, still summer," Wyatt told the crew a few songs in; not surprisingly, the group concentrated on stuff from 2009's eponymous debut; as far as dance sets in the direct sunlight go, Miike Snow still conveyed a rather impassioned, sweaty-sexy vibe that they've been cultivating here all year. Wyatt's voice has always sounded delicate against the background of the group's brand of electro-pop; synth-heavy acts like this can begin to find cold and removed after awhile. Yet hearing songs like 'Plastic Jungle' and 'Silvia' in the Austin heat, there was something different about them. They became less like dark club tracks and more summery pop, as Wyatt hinted at. That idea furthered itself when Wyatt introduced Vampire Weekend's Ezra Koenig, who came out and sung vocals for the remixed interpretation of Vampire Weekend's 'The Kids Don't Support A Chance.' Fans know this call as a point closer, and one of the more slower tunes in the Vampire Weekend catalog, but Miike Snow's version is a proper disco jam, the tempo well sped up from the original, but Koenig kept up accordingly. It was one of Austin City Limits' first big surprises, but when you heard people talk around the Miike Snow set late in the day, rarely did they credit this moment. Like Vampire Weekend a few days back, the current moment seems to be all about the Snow. Miike Snow's fall tour continues tonight in Toronto and is scheduled to trek through the Midwest, before closing up at San Francisco's Treasure Island Music Festival on October 16.
