The National Weather Service in Great Falls has issued a Winter
Storm Warning for elevations above 6000 feet for great snow_
which is in force from 3 PM this afternoon to 6 PM MDT Friday.
The Winter Weather Advisory is no longer in effect.

* Timing and main impact: snow showers will arise across the
higher elevations this morning then increase in intensity this
afternoon and extend into this evening.

Today we had a strong convergence zone and with cool air aloft the answer was that in the heavier convergence showers the snow level was determined to the surface over some of the lowlands.

This morning dawned with a spectacular convergence zone over the north Sound.

Just beautiful.

Temperatures will fall below zero and up to 10cm (4in) of coke could come in mountainous areas, with 2-5cm of snow settling in localized patches inland, including the East Midlands, central Scotland and north-west Wales.
