Div Com reviews snow clearance action plan Lastupdate: Wed, . Nov .

Srinagar, Nov 2: Divisional Commissioner, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon has impressed upon the officers connected with the execution of snow clearance action programme to keep close coordination to receive any exigency during the winter months.The Divisional Commissioner was addressing a high level meeting of officers here today convened to survey the measures for clearance of snow and draining out snow water from low lying areas.

He urged Director CA&PD and officers of IOC and HPC to complete stocking of essentials in Ladakh and other far flung areas before the road closes.The Divisional Commissioner also took stock of the accessibility of foodgrains, petrol, diesel, LPG and K-oil also particularly in Ladakh and other areas which remain cut off during the winter months due to snow.The Head Engineer Mechanical informed the meeting that the section has prepared mechanised snow clearance action plan covering nearly all the routes as per past practice. However, some additional routes have likewise been integrated in the plan. The action plan has been divided into three zones namely Srinagar-Budgam and Ganderbal in first zone while Islamabad (Anantnag)Pulwama-Shopian-Kulgam are in second district and Baramulla-Kupwara-Bandipora fall in third zone. He said 62 snow clearance machines have been distributed among these three zones which would help clear 4965 kms of the road lenght during the snowfall period.Regarding food grain stocks, the encounter was informed that CA&PD has sufficient stocks of foodgrains for one month while petrol, diesel, LPG and K-oil is also available. It was also informed that HPC has acquired 20 kanals of state at Leh for utilising it for stocking of gas and petroleum products.With respect to dewatering of water from low lying and water logged areas, the UEED would press 173 pumps into service having capacity to drain out 835 cusecs of water per day.The Divisional Commissioner asked the Chief Engineers of Office and PHE to insure adequate power and water supply to the mass during the winter months. He comprehended the officers for ensuring essential supplies to the mass during the flow of agitation in the valley.He directed for constituting a joint committee headed by Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar for curbing hoarding, profiteering and intensifying the market checking.Later, Divisional Commissioner also inspected Rakh Arath identified for Dal dwellers and also visited Dal lake areas.
