More rain forecast, Murree receives 6 inches of snow

The Met office has forecast that widespread rains with isolated heavy showers will remain in Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and Balochistan on Thursday and Friday.
While more snowfall is predicted over the hills of Murree and Galliyat, Kashmir, Malakand and Hazara divisions during this period. The current wet spell is potential to settle in the central and lower parts of the land on Friday.

The wet spell will likewise remain in Balochistan on Thursday, and get more isolated heavy rainfall over northern and key parts of the state that may yield further flash floods in the local rivers and streams. The wet spell in Balochistan is expected to settle on Thursday night.

Meanwhile, some parts of the Sindh province may also receive isolated rain on Thursday.

The Met Office also informed that most parts of Balochistan including Quetta received widespread rains with isolated heavy showers during the lowest two to 3 years that generated flash floods in the local rivers and streams.

The upper parts of the area including Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Punjab, upper Sindh and Kashmir also received rain and c in mountainous areas at scattered places on Wednesday.

The major number of rainfall and snow recorded during the current wet spell were: Quetta 75 mm, Parachinar 42 mm, Kalat 42 mm, Kalam 37 mm, Pattan 36 mm, Dir 34 mm, Zhob 27 mm, Abbottabad 25 mm, Garhi Dopatta 24 mm, Sibbi 24 mm, Muzaffarabad 23 mm, Malam Jabba 23 mm, Khuzdar 23 mm, Rawalpindi 22 mm, Balakot 22 mm, Dalbandin 21 mm, Saidu Sharif 20 mm and Islamabad 19 mm.

The hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab also received snow. Malam Jabba recorded two feet, Kalam two feet, Murree six inches and Galliyat six inches of snow.

The met office has warned that due to the intermittent rains, the chance of landslides will be high on the major roads of mountainous areas, including Malakand, Hazara, Galliyat, Murree and Kashmir on Thursday and Friday.
