Colton schools to end early as snow falls in higher elevations .

Snow is dropping at higher elevations in east Clackamas County, putting emergency officials on alert.

In Colton School District, the center school and high school are set to end at 11:15 a.m. The primary school will end at 12:30 and school buses will be working on snow routes. For more information, call 503-824-3535.

Colton Fire District officials said area roads are crafty and that firefighters already have been dispatched to an injury accident on Oregon 211 east of town.

In Sandy, SAM transit buses have shifted to snow routes. Sandy Transit information, call 503-668-3466 and ask for the dispatcher.

Meanwhile, Estacada Fire District officials report that heavy wet snow is falling and sticking, making roads potentially dangerous.

Molalla schools are also responding: the Country Christian School announced its immediate closure around 1:45 p.m. Parents are asked to clean up their children as shortly as possible.

In addition, the Molalla River School District's afternoon kindergarten classes at Clarkes Elementary School will not be in session today because the entire elementary school closed at 12:30 p.m. Middle and high school students in the country also left early, with buses one through seven on snow routes.
